For a lightweight,hight-performance board consider using Paulownia lumber.Paulownia is about 2/3 the weight of lightest commercial wood grown in Heze city Shandong province China.
It's weight is about 290-310kgs/m3.Yet paulownia has great strength and is nearly kont-free.It is light-blond in appearance.and will take stain well,allow you to creat a custome look for your board.
